About the Author
What does that m stand for anyways? My name is Mike Grenda and I am the wizard behind the curtain for this site, as well as a few others. I am a freelance web designer, and graduate student. After my wonderful wife, family, and friends I have a passion for gaming, good tea, and good sake.
I am a self-taught web designer and have been dabbling in web design since 2004 and in graphic design before I even owned a computer. My focus is to create standards compliant accessible websites that are elegant in both code and design. If you want to learn about my design services head over to my portfolio. I have a B.A. in psychology and I am currently pursuing a specialist degree in school psychology. My research interests include Autism Spectrum Disorders and the use of open-source software to aid school psychologists in data recording and management.
About the Site
mGrenda developed out of a need for a virtual front to my web design services. This site acts as a sandbox for both ideas and projects I am currently at work on. The layout takes inspiration from other beautiful sites I have found on the web. Designing the News, Andy Rutledge's site, Jon Tangerine, and others have given me design inspiration on top of my own ideas. There are a number of other websites I use for development solutions and inspiration, these sites are listed under the heading Design Resources.
My hosting services are graciously provided by Godaddy and my blog is powered by Wordpress. This site is completely standards compliant in both xHTML and CSS, if you find otherwise please let me know. I use Adobe Dreamweaver for web development and management. The torn paper effect was accomplished using a photoshop brush set called Tears by Guerilla Graphics, I download all my custom brushes from Brusheezy.
